Posted to the web 20 August 2008 Harare MOST Zimbabwe School Examinations Council markers for the June Ordinary and Advanced Level examinations have not yet turned up, in protest at the low remuneration being paid by the body. The markers, most of whom are schoolteachers, were selected to mark the June 2008 exams with effect from last week, but most of them had not turned up at marking centres, citing high transport costs and low remuneration. The development might lead to a delay in the release of the results, whose marking had already been postponed because of the June presidential election run-off. A visit yesterday to Belvedere Technical Teachers' College showed that there was a low turnout of markers.
